Troops Arrest Terrorist Suppliers, Recover Arms in Nigeria

Troops operating in North-East Nigeria achieved significant success in counter-terrorism efforts, arresting logistics suppliers and recovering arms. Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba disclosed that operations led to the arrest of Girema Aliko, a suspected Boko Haram and ISWAP logistics supplier, at Benisheikh Market in Borno State.

Aliko was on a security watchlist and was intercepted while attempting to transport 30 liters of premium motor spirit, believed to support terrorist operations. Additionally, an absconding soldier, Umar Bema from the 50 Task Force Battalion, was apprehended for alleged desertion and involvement in criminal activities.

The military also arrested two ISWAP members who confessed to participating in attacks and abductions. Operations around Damboa uncovered several terrorist enclaves, leading to the recovery of rocket-propelled grenades and ammunition.

The military's ongoing efforts aim to weaken terrorist networks and restore peace and stability in the region.
