Joint Task Force Neutralizes Bandits in Benue, Taraba

Between May 24 and May 31, 2026, the Joint Task Force, under the command of Lt. Ahmad Zubairu, conducted operations in Benue and Taraba states, resulting in the neutralization of four suspected bandits. The operations targeted armed robbery, kidnapping, and drug trafficking.

On May 24, troops responded to reports of armed herders attacking residents in Guma Local Government Area, where they found two injured individuals and evacuated them for treatment. On May 25, troops intercepted suspected abductors along Antegh Zongo Road in Makurdi, leading to the rescue of victims who were reunited with their families.

Additionally, on May 27, three drug peddlers were arrested, and 641 pieces of illicit drugs along with N781,000 in cash were recovered. The operations culminated on May 31, with troops neutralizing two bandits in Katsina-Ala and recovering ammunition and related items.

Major General Mose Gara commended the troops for their success and urged the community to provide timely information to security agencies.
