Nigerian Troops Kill ISWAP Commander in Adamawa Attack

On a recent operation, troops from the Nigerian Army neutralized ISWAP commander Abou Ameer during a failed infiltration attempt in the Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State. This operation, according to security sources, resulted in the death of Ameer and several fighters, with significant resistance encountered from the insurgents.

The operation was part of a broader military effort to degrade terrorist operations in the northeast of Nigeria. Ameer had recently been appointed as the commander following the killing of his predecessor, Modu Kunduli.

The operation also reportedly led to injuries among senior ISWAP members, including Abu Ali, Jango Jundulla, and Saleh Madagali. Troops recovered weapons and intelligence materials at the scene, indicating sustained pressure on the insurgent network.

This operation follows a separate incident where Nigerian air forces killed at least 61 ISWAP fighters during another failed infiltration attempt in Malam Fatori, Abadam Local Government Area of Borno State.
