Troops Arrest Kidnapper, Rescue Victims in Nasarawa, Benue

Troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation WHIRL STROKE (OPWS), arrested a suspected kidnapper, Adamu Lamu, and rescued two abducted victims during operations in Nasarawa and Benue states between September 4 and September 6. The arrest of Lamu occurred on September 4 in Agyaragu, following the escape of a victim, Mr. Nehemiah Elisha, who alerted the troops after spotting Lamu at a market.

The troops apprehended Lamu and handed him over to the Nigeria Police for further investigation. In a separate operation on September 6, troops from the Chief of Army Staff Intervention Battalion XI rescued Mr. Vincent Nyado, who was found tied and abandoned by the roadside along the Umene-Torkula Road after his captors fled upon seeing the advancing troops.

The military confirmed that Nyado had been abducted by suspected terrorists. The rescued victim received immediate assistance, and efforts are underway to gather intelligence for the arrest of the fleeing suspects.

Operation WHIRL STROKE reiterated its commitment to combating kidnapping and terrorism in the North-Central region.
