Troops Repel ISWAP Attack in Damasak, Three Injured

On the night of the attack, around 10:30 PM, troops from Operation HADIN KAI, in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), successfully repelled an assault by suspected ISWAP terrorists in Damasak, located in the Nganzai Local Government Area. The attack involved open gunfire, which caused residents to flee in panic.

Three civilians were shot: Goni Dauda, 25, and Asinamai David, 25, both sustained serious injuries, while Modu Ya Asham, 32, was also affected. Kellu Bukar, 40, from an IDP camp, sustained a chest wound and is currently receiving treatment at a general hospital in Damasak.

Following the confrontation, troops engaged in heavy gun battles with the terrorists, who ultimately fled. The troops later evacuated the victims, and Goni Dauda was released to his family for burial according to Islamic rites, while Asinamai David was buried according to Christian rites.

Security forces confirmed that normalcy has returned to the town, and they will continue to monitor the area to prevent further incidents.
