Troops Repel ISWAP Attack in Borno, One Soldier Injured

Troops successfully repelled an attack by the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) on a military position in Borno while engaged in counter-terrorism operations. The ground troops, under sustained assault, effectively held their positions and returned fire, preventing the terrorists from breaching the military location.

The Acting Military Information Officer at Headquarters Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, reported that timely air support bolstered the troops' response. The Air Component provided Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) coverage and executed precision strikes against hostile elements attempting to withdraw.

During the encounter, one soldier sustained a gunshot wound to the left arm and was evacuated for medical attention, where he was stabilized and is now in stable condition. Following the terrorists' withdrawal, troops initiated exploitation operations to assess the engagement's impact, recover abandoned weapons, and gather intelligence for future operations.

Troops remain on high alert, conducting patrols and surveillance to prevent terrorist movements.
