Troops Foil ISWAP Attack on Military Base in Borno

Troops of the Joint Task Force, North East, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), successfully repelled an attack by Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists on a Forward Operating Base in Gajiram, Nganzai Local Government Area of Borno at approximately 12:20 am on Monday. Captain Mohammed Goni, the Acting Military Information Officer, reported that the terrorists attempted to overrun the military position but were met with effective fire, forcing them to withdraw after sustaining heavy casualties.

The military confirmed that several terrorists were neutralized, and weapons, ammunition, and communication gadgets were recovered. Surveillance footage indicated that the retreating terrorists evacuated several casualties.

Some troops sustained injuries due to a temporary breach in defense and damage from Rocket-Propelled Grenade fire; however, the injured personnel were airlifted and are stable. The military remains deployed in the area to monitor developments and prevent further attacks, urging local residents to report suspicious activities.
