Troops Defend Borno Base Against ISWAP Attack

On August 10, 2026, at approximately 12:20 a.m., troops from the Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI, successfully repelled an attack by ISWAP terrorists on a Forward Operating Base in Gajiram, Nganzai Local Government Area, Borno State. Captain Mohammed Goni, the Acting Military Information Officer, reported that a large group of terrorists attempted to overrun the military position but were met with sustained and effective fire from the troops, forcing them to withdraw after incurring heavy casualties.

Several terrorists were neutralized during the engagement, and troops recovered weapons, ammunition, and communication gadgets. Although some soldiers sustained injuries due to a temporary breach in the defensive position, they were promptly evacuated by air and are currently stable and receiving medical treatment.

Following the attack, troops have maintained a strong presence in the area to monitor terrorist movements and prevent further engagements. The military urged local residents to remain calm and report any suspicious activities.
