Troops Rescue 17 Abducted Travelers in Sokoto Operation

On June 18, 2026, troops from the Joint Task Force North West, under the command of Lt. Col.

Aliyu Danja, responded to a credible distress call regarding a terrorist attack on the Sabon Birni-Shinkafi road near Kura Mota village. The attack involved the blocking of two civilian vehicles, resulting in the abduction of several passengers and the killing of civilians during the assault.

In response, the troops mobilized immediately to the scene, launching a coordinated pursuit operation supported by aerial surveillance. Their swift response and sustained pressure on the terrorists led to the successful rescue of 17 kidnapped passengers.

The operation concluded with the necessary actions taken by the appropriate authorities regarding the rescued individuals.
