Security Forces Rescue Five Abducted Travelers in Sokoto

On Thursday night at 8:45 PM, armed bandits attacked a travel canter vehicle loaded with charcoal in Sokoto, abducting six individuals. According to a statement from the Sokoto State Police Command spokesman, DSP Ahmad Rufa, the police received a distress call and deployed a tactical team alongside military personnel to the area.

Upon arrival, security operatives engaged the bandits in a gun duel, forcing them to flee into a nearby forest. During the operation, five of the six abducted individuals were rescued unharmed, and the canter vehicle was recovered.

No casualties were reported among the security personnel involved in the rescue. Efforts are ongoing to locate the remaining victim, who reportedly escaped into the forest during the attack.

The police have intensified security operations in the area and urged residents to provide information to assist in tackling crime.
