Sokoto Troops Rescue 23 Kidnap Victims, Arrest Terrorists

On September 21, troops from Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West, successfully rescued 23 kidnapped victims and arrested four suspected terrorists in Sokoto. The operations began on Sunday when troops responded to an attack in Sabon Gari, Wurno Local Government Area, where they engaged terrorists, leading to the rescue of six victims.

Additionally, in Sabon Birni Local Government Area, troops ambushed terrorists attempting to cross the Sabon Birni-Takatsaba Road, forcing them to retreat and rescuing 17 more victims. One civilian sustained a gunshot wound and was evacuated for medical treatment.

In a separate operation in Illela Local Government Area, troops apprehended four members of the Lakurawa group who were allegedly transporting rustled cattle from Sarma Village, recovering six cows. The suspects and the livestock are in military custody for further investigation, with ongoing efforts to capture other fleeing members of the group.
