Soldiers Foil Terrorist Attack, Rescue Kidnapped Victims

On September 13, 2026, troops of the Joint Task Force North-West, under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, responded to a distress call regarding a terrorist attack in Unguwan Lalle, Sabon Birni Local Government Area, Sokoto State. The troops engaged the terrorists, forcing them to retreat and successfully rescuing two kidnapped victims.

Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, the JTF’s Media Information Officer, reported that during the operation, troops made contact with the terrorists and engaged them with firepower. Following this, they received intelligence about the terrorists regrouping and swiftly mobilized to engage them again, resulting in a fierce gun battle.

The troops recovered 157 rounds of PKT ammunition and other items during the operation. Additionally, on September 12, 2026, troops arrested a suspected drug peddler, Yohana Musa, in Kaduna State while conducting a stop-and-search operation along the Kaduna–Birnin Gwari Road.

The JTF commended the troops for their professionalism and urged the public to provide useful intelligence to support ongoing operations.
