Troops Rescue Six Abducted Victims in Borno State

On May 1, 2026, troops from the Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai successfully rescued six individuals, including women and children, who had been abducted by Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists in Ngosh Village, Gwoza Local Government Area, Borno State. The operation was coordinated following credible intelligence and involved sustained offensives, including air interdiction missions targeting terrorist hideouts in the Mandara Mountain area.

The victims, identified as 18-year-old Zainab Idri, 17-year-old Fatima Abubakar, 24-year-old Maimuna Abdulrashid, one-year-old Muhammad Idri, seven-year-old Sadiq Abdullahi, and five-year-old Fatima Abdulrashid, had been held captive since a terrorist attack on the community on March 3, 2026. The troops engaged in a brief firefight with the terrorists during the rescue, which led to the successful retrieval of the victims.

The operation was praised by Alhaji Shuaibu Dabawa, the community leader, who expressed gratitude for the military's commitment to securing the area and eliminating terrorist elements.
