Davido Appeals to Trump for Osun Election Attention

Nigerian singer David Adeleke, known as Davido, defended his decision to call on U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the upcoming Osun State governorship election scheduled for August 15.

His comments on X followed a reaction from a user questioning his involvement of the U.S. president in local elections. Davido, who holds dual citizenship in the U.S. and Nigeria, stated that Trump is also his president and expressed his right to address him on significant issues.

He raised concerns about potential tension, violence, intimidation, and disruption of the democratic process in Osun State, where his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, is seeking re-election. Davido urged the U.S. and the international community to monitor the election closely and called for the protection of voters and respect for every vote.

He emphasized the need for peace, transparency, and a free and fair electoral process in his appeal to Trump.
