Tuggar Secures APC Nomination for Bauchi Governorship

Tuggar, a former Minister of Foreign Affairs, has officially entered the Bauchi State governorship race by purchasing the APC nomination forms, which cost N50 million. He announced his candidacy on Wednesday, detailing his key agenda focused on addressing insecurity, revitalizing agriculture, and improving the living conditions of residents.

Tuggar highlighted the need to tackle insecurity and maximize the state's agricultural potential, emphasizing the importance of properly utilizing farmland as a priority. He warned against the concentration of resource control in the hands of a few individuals, which could harm the wider population.

Tuggar also stated that the APC's primary election process should remain transparent and credible, whether through direct primaries or consensus arrangements. Following his resignation from his ministerial position on March 30, 2026, in compliance with presidential directives requiring political appointees to step down when seeking elective office, Tuggar aims to secure genuine support from the people of Bauchi.
