Tunji Disu Becomes Acting IGP, Succeeds Egbetokun

Tunji Disu has assumed the role of Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) on Wednesday, 23rd October 2023, succeeding Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, who served as the 22nd IGP from June 19, 2023, to October 23, 2023. Disu, born on April 13, 1966, hails from Lagos Island Local Government Area in Lagos State.

His educational qualifications include an MSc in Entrepreneurship from the National Open University of Nigeria (2023), an MSc in Criminology and Security from Lagos State University (2022), and several other advanced diplomas and degrees. He joined the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police on May 18, 1992, and has held various significant positions, including Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in the Force Criminal Investigation Department and Commissioner of Police in multiple states.

Disu has also led the first Nigerian police contingent to the African Union Mission in Sudan in 2005 and has been recognized for his contributions to the police force. The Nigeria Police Force expressed appreciation for Egbetokun's contributions to the modernization and strengthening of the force.
