Turaki Faction Rejects Wike's Backed PDP Convention

The Kabiru Tanimu Turaki faction of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) has publicly rejected a convention held in Abuja, which was supported by Nyesom Wike, describing it as a pre-Easter jamboree. The Turaki faction, which is loyal to PDP Governor Abdulrahman Muham, voiced concerns regarding the ongoing leadership crisis within the party, which has resulted in a division into two factions.

Ini Ememobong, the spokesman for the Turaki-led group, emphasized that genuine PDP members across the country are worried about the situation and are calling for a resolution through the Supreme Court. The faction plans to challenge the legitimacy of the convention and the leadership decisions made therein.

Ememobong also alleged that the crisis is orchestrated by the government due to fears of impending rejection by the Nigerian populace. Meanwhile, Wike's faction has indicated a willingness to reconcile with the Turaki group and accept duly elected party leaders, suggesting ongoing negotiations to resolve the misunderstandings within the party.
