PDP Faction Criticizes Wike-Backed Convention in Abuja

The faction of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki has condemned a convention held in Abuja, which was backed by Nyesom Wike, describing it as a "pre-Easter jamboree." In a statement released to newsmen in Abuja on Monday, the faction reiterated its resolve to await the Supreme Court's verdict concerning the ongoing leadership tussle that has hindered the party's progress. They expressed concerns from genuine party members nationwide regarding the future of the party and called for the apex court to expedite the hearing of their appeal.

The statement further criticized the convention, labeling it as a contempt of court due to the ongoing legal proceedings. Additionally, they mentioned that a judgment from the Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice Abdulmalik, is expected soon, which could impact the faction's legal strategy against the convention's validity.
