Oyo Court Validates PDP Convention Led by Tanimu Turaki

The Oyo State High Court in Ibadan, presided over by Justice Ladiran Akintola, ruled on Friday, affirming the validity of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) national convention held on November 15-16, 2025. This convention, which saw Tanimu Turaki elected to lead the National Working Committee (NWC), was deemed properly conducted and in compliance with the party's constitution and Nigerian law.

The court granted relief to claimant Folahan Malomo Adelabi, who sought to validate the convention's outcomes and compel the PDP to conduct its elections transparently. The ruling comes after a previous order on November 3, 2025, which set the legal basis for the convention.

The PDP welcomed the judgment, emphasizing its commitment to justice and the rule of law. The party's leadership, including Turaki, expressed confidence in the judiciary's independence.

The ruling may impact ongoing disputes within the party, particularly against factions loyal to Nyesom Wike, who had formed a caretaker committee.
