PDP Leaders Initiate Peace Talks Ahead of Elections

Tanimu Turaki, a leader of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), confirmed that leaders from both factions of the party have initiated discussions to explore pathways to peace and resolve outstanding issues. This announcement was made during a press conference where Turaki emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration within the party as they prepare for the upcoming general elections.

He assured members that the PDP would field candidates in compliance with Article 6(2) of the party's amended constitution from 2017. Turaki also highlighted the need for de-escalation of tensions and urged all members to support peace efforts.

The party's National Working Committee (NWC) has postponed its earlier scheduled meetings to demonstrate goodwill. Turaki expressed hope that the PDP would continue to serve as a credible platform for political contestation, emphasizing the necessity of maintaining democratic values and accountability in governance.

He reiterated the party's commitment to participating in the elections and providing a robust political contest.
