Erdogan Calls for Ceasefire Amid Civilian Suffering in Iran

Turkish President Recep Erdogan expressed profound sorrow regarding the civilian suffering in Iran, stating that Turkey will enhance its diplomatic efforts to establish a ceasefire and help restore peace. Erdogan emphasized the pain felt by the Iranian people, particularly innocent children who bear the brunt of the ongoing conflict.

He made these remarks during an event in Ankara, asserting Turkey's commitment to intensifying diplomatic contacts until a ceasefire is achieved. Erdogan highlighted the necessity of dialogue and warned that failure to intervene could have serious consequences for regional and global security.

He also mentioned recent joint U.S.-Israeli strikes that reportedly killed several senior Iranian officials, including Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The strikes were a response to drone missile attacks targeting U.S.-linked sites in Gulf countries, resulting in multiple fatalities, including at least six U.S. servicemen, with 18 others seriously wounded.
