Building Collapse in Kwara Rescues Two Children

On the morning of the incident, at 9:10 AM, a six-flat residential building collapsed in Ilorin, Kwara, trapping two children, Ahmad (8) and Hussainat (10). Fortunately, they were rescued and taken to a nearby hospital, with no fatalities reported.

The collapse has raised significant concerns regarding the safety of such structures in the metropolitan area. The Kwara State Fire Service was summoned to the scene to assist in salvaging personal belongings, including household items and important documents, from the debris.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps subsequently sealed off the collapsed building and issued a seven-day ultimatum to the occupants of neighboring structures found to be structurally weak and unsafe. Alabi Muham, the director of the fire service, was present during the operation and emphasized the need for property owners to implement preventive measures and conduct routine structural checks to avert serious incidents.
