Two Dead in Refuse Dump Collapse in Calabar

Two persons have been confirmed dead following the collapse of a refuse dump at Ikot Effanga, along Old Odukpani Road in Calabar, Cross River State. The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, as reported by the Cross River State Police Command in a statement signed by Police Public Relations Officer Sunday Eitokpah.

The refuse dump collapsed onto a building that was reportedly constructed within a valley, resulting in the deaths of two occupants. The victims were identified as Nfon Imé, a male, and an unidentified female, both of whom were in the building at the time of the incident.

Their bodies were recovered and deposited at the mortuary. The police spokesperson stated that an assessment of the circumstances surrounding the incident is ongoing, and further investigations have commenced.
