Anambra Building Collapse: Students Injured, Casualties Confirmed

A building collapse in Anambra late Sunday night has led to injuries among students and the discovery of a deceased young man trapped under the rubble. The building was reportedly housing several students and other occupants.

Rescue operations are being conducted by a combined team that includes the Nigerian Red Cross Society, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Anambra State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Anambra State Fire Service, Nigeria Police Force, and the Operation Udo Ga-Achi security outfit. Heavy-duty excavators and other equipment are being utilized to carefully remove debris while ensuring the safety of rescue personnel.

The atmosphere at the scene is tense, with anxious residents and sympathizers observing the operation. Mrs. Ndidi Omega, the Acting Executive Secretary of SEMA, confirmed the death of a lady and the ongoing search for the young man.

Three injured individuals have been taken to the hospital, and the rescue operation will persist until every section of the debris is thoroughly searched.
