Two die from 'laughing gas' use in Ogun State incident

Two persons died and two others were hospitalized after allegedly consuming a substance known as "laughing gas" in Isara Remo, Ogun State, on Tuesday. The victims are believed to be students of Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Saapade.

A local resident reported that the students were using the substance recreationally, which led to the fatalities. The Ogun State Police Command, represented by Public Relations Officer DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation into the suspected drug-related case is ongoing.

The deceased have been deposited for autopsy, while the survivors are receiving medical treatment. Babaseyi emphasized the dangers of drug abuse and urged the public to avoid illicit substances.

Efforts to reach the management of Gateway ICT Polytechnic for comments were unsuccessful, as calls and messages to their Public Relations Officer, Folorunso Adedayo, went unanswered. Nitrous oxide, commonly referred to as laughing gas, is a medical anesthetic but can be dangerous when misused.
