Spain Defeats Falconets 2-0 in World Cup Opener

In their World Cup opener on Monday evening at the Sosnowiec stadium, Nigeria's Falconets, under the leadership of coach Moses Aduku, were defeated 2-0 by Spain. The match marked the first for both teams in Group F.

Spain dominated possession and created several scoring opportunities early in the game. They took the lead in the 13th minute when Marisa Garcia capitalized on a well-executed sequence of passes, running into the box to score from a cutback.

Nigeria managed to test the Spanish goalkeeper only once in the first half and, despite making a double substitution at halftime, they could not break through Spain's solid defense. Spain extended their lead in the 73rd minute when Alba Cerrato received a pass in the box and scored past Nigeria's goalkeeper Christiana Uzoma at her near post.

The Falconets, who are two-time Silver medalists at the women's U20 World Cup, will look to recover in their next match against China PR, who previously defeated New Caledonia 5-0.
