Nigerian Teachers Funmi Ogundar and Tijani Mukadda Shortlisted for Global Teacher Prize 2026

Two Nigerian teachers, Funmi Ogundar and Tijani Mukadda, have been recognized in the top 50 shortlist for the Global Teacher Prize 2026. Funmi Ogundar, a science teacher and founder of Transit School in Abuja, has been acknowledged for her flexible skill-based learning model that has helped tackle the educational crisis in Nigeria.

On the other hand, Adeola Akinsulur, a biology teacher at Omol Senior Grammar School in Lagos, has been praised for her transformative teaching methods that have significantly improved student performance. The overall winner will be announced at the World Government Summit in Dubai in February 2026.
