Two Soldiers Killed in Clash with Youths in Cross River

On March 11, a violent clash in Isabang Alesi Community, Obubra Local Government Area, Cross River State, resulted in the deaths of two soldiers from the 245 Battalion stationed at Edor Barrack. The confrontation began when a miner, identified as Ibrahim Musa, was allegedly beaten by local youths at a checkpoint.

Following this, soldiers were dispatched to arrest the suspect, but the youths resisted and blocked access roads, leading to a confrontation. During the clash, soldiers reportedly fired gunshots, injuring four individuals, including Christoph Agara, 27, and Ogobi Egb, 30, who were subsequently taken for native treatment.

The police public relations officer, Eitokpah, confirmed the incident and stated that a tactical team had been deployed to manage the situation and ensure peace in the community. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
