Kwara Police Arrest Two Suspected Bandits with Rifles

The Kwara State Police Command arrested two suspected bandits, Bello Moham, aged 28, and Abubakar Moham, aged 25, during an operation on Saturday in Okuta, Baruten Local Government Area. The operation, conducted by the command's violent crime response unit in collaboration with personnel from the Okuta Division Police Headquarters, resulted in the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, 65 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, two cutlasses, two tube tires, and other items allegedly used to restrain victims.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects are linked to a criminal network involved in kidnappings and armed attacks in Baruten and surrounding communities. During interrogation, Abubakar Moham confessed to being involved in the group's activities and disclosed that he had previously sustained injuries during encounters with security operatives, resulting in the loss of three fingers.

The investigation also led to the identification of Umoru Saliu, aged 58, who allegedly provided accommodation for members of the criminal network. The Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, described the operation as a breakthrough in the ongoing efforts against violent crime in the state.
