Security Forces Kill Bandits, Rescue Minors in Kwara

On Thursday, a joint security team in Kwara State, comprising operatives from the Department of State Services (DSS) and forest guards, engaged in an operation targeting bandit hideouts in the Oba Isin Owa Onir area of Ifelodun Local Government Area. During the operation, security operatives killed two suspected bandits after a gun battle, while several others escaped with severe injuries.

The operation successfully rescued two kidnapped minors, identified as 16-year-old Fatima Azeez and her five-year-old brother Ibrahim. Items recovered during the operation included an AK-47 rifle, a single-barrel gun with a fully loaded magazine, nine empty magazines, a mini solar charger, and food items.

This operation is part of the ongoing multi-agency counter-terrorism and anti-kidnapping campaign by the state government aimed at tackling insecurity in the region. The latest operation follows a recent intelligence-led mission that resulted in the rescue of a pupil and a teacher abducted by bandits in the Oriir Local Government Area of Oyo State.
