Tyla Wins Best Afrobeats Artist at 2026 AMAs

At the 52nd American Music Awards, held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, South African singer Tyla emerged as the biggest winner, clinching the Best Afrobeats Artist award. She triumphed over notable Nigerian artists Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Rema.

The event, hosted by Queen Latifah, saw Tyla also winning the Social Song of the Year award for her hit track "Chanel." At just 24 years old, Tyla became the first African artist to win at this event despite not attending the ceremony in person. Her song "Chanel," released in October 2025, has reportedly surpassed 320 million streams on Spotify and topped music charts in several countries.

Tyla's nominations at the American Music Awards mark a significant milestone in her rising international music career, following her breakout hit "Water.".
