UAE Sets 18-Year Minimum Age for Work Permit Eligibility

The United Arab Emirates has announced a minimum age requirement for foreigners seeking work permits, stipulating that applicants must be at least 18 years old. This age threshold applies to most foreign workers aiming to secure employment in the UAE.

However, there are exceptions for two specific categories: juveniles and individuals participating in student training or employment programs. Juveniles are not automatically prohibited from working but must apply under a distinct permit type that has its own conditions.

Similarly, those involved in student training or employment arrangements are governed by a separate permit framework that does not necessitate meeting the 18-year minimum age. For all other applicants outside these categories, the 18-year age requirement is mandatory and non-negotiable for work permit eligibility.
