UAE Sets 60-Day Entry Deadline for Visit Visa Holders

The United Arab Emirates government has announced a new regulation stating that all holders of UAE entry permits must enter the country within 60 days from the date of issuance to avoid forfeiting their visas. This rule, applicable in 2026, emphasizes the importance of timely travel for foreign nationals, particularly Nigerians and other African nationals who often apply for visit visas in advance.

If travelers cannot enter within the 60-day period, they may apply for an extension, provided they adhere to the necessary rules and procedures. The announcement, published by the UAE's Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP), highlights the critical nature of tracking the exact date of permit issuance, as the countdown begins from that date, not from when the visa is collected or a flight is booked.
