UAE and Indonesia Enhance Digital Payment Cooperation

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Indonesia are working to expand their cooperation in digital payment systems to enhance the efficiency of cross-border payments. Khaled Mohamed Balama, the Governor of the Central Bank of the UAE, stated that this collaboration would bolster economic resilience, deepen trade relations, and promote greater investment flows between the two nations.

Indonesia’s Ambassador to the UAE, Husin Bagis, praised the UAE's advancements in payment infrastructure and emphasized the importance of ongoing cooperation between the central banks of both countries. The discussions included the potential adoption of national currencies for bilateral settlements, integration of payment platforms, and sharing of expertise to support trade and investment activities.

These discussions took place at the Central Bank of the UAE’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening their strategic partnership, particularly in the banking and financial sectors.
