UAE Sets Conditions for Golden Residency for Athletes

The United Arab Emirates has introduced three specific conditions for foreign athletes and sports professionals to qualify for its Golden Residency programme, managed by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP). This programme grants eligible individuals a ten-year residency in the UAE, which is automatically renewable and does not require a local sponsor.

The first condition targets individuals who have achieved outstanding sporting accomplishments or demonstrated exceptional excellence in their discipline. The second pathway is for those in leadership roles within international sports federations, committees, or recognized global sports organizations, allowing non-active competitors to qualify.

The third condition focuses on accomplished specialists in sports medicine who have made significant contributions to the field. This initiative reflects the UAE's broader strategy to attract skilled and high-achieving individuals across various sectors, providing long-term stability for residents.
