United Bank Africa (UBA) clarified reports of a fire outbreak at its Lagos Island branch on September 17. The incident occurred at the Afriland Building on Broad Street, affecting the property but not the bank's head office.

Videos showed panicked employees trying to escape as thick smoke billowed from the building. The Lagos State Fire Rescue Service confirmed the blaze originated in the inverter room in the basement.

Both UBA and the Federal Fire Service swiftly responded to the emergency. The incident caused a stir among onlookers, with many capturing the unfolding events on their phones.

The situation was contained, and there were no reported casualties.
