Uba Sani pledges northern support for Tinubu's 2027 re-election bid

Kaduna governor assures president of northern votes, citing infrastructure projects like the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Expressway.

At an APC rally held Saturday at Kaduna Township Stadium, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani pledged support from northern Nigeria's voters for President Bola Tinubu's 2027 re-election bid. The stadium served as the venue where Tinubu officially launched his campaign.

Sani's endorsement rested on what he characterised as tangible developmental commitments by the Tinubu administration toward the north. Agricultural modernisation and infrastructure expansion received specific mention as areas demonstrating concrete delivery.

The Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Expressway reconstruction project figured centrally in his evidence of this developmental orientation. At the same gathering, Sani directed sharp criticism toward an opposition presidential candidate hailing from the north.

The governor did not identify the candidate by name but demanded proof of significant road projects completed during that individual's prior service as vice president. This challenge suggested an absence of verifiable infrastructure accomplishments.

Sani's statements align with broader APC efforts aimed at solidifying backing in northern Nigeria before 2027. Infrastructure initiatives serve as key elements of the party's narrative regarding presidential fulfillment of electoral commitments.

The Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Expressway has become central to this messaging strategy, with party figures regularly citing its advancement as evidence that the administration remains devoted to advancing the region.
