Osimhen Out for Galatasaray's UCL Clash Against Sporting

Victor Osimhen, the Super Eagles striker and forward for Galatasaray, has been excluded from the starting XI for the UEFA Champions League match against Sporting CP at the Estádio José Alvalade on Wednesday due to an adductor injury. This injury was sustained during Galatasaray's recent league match against Başakşehir.

Osimhen was also not included in the travelling squad for this fixture. Galatasaray's manager, Okan Buruk, has opted to start Barış Alper Yılmaz in the attack, supported by Leroy Sané, Aleksey Batrakov, and Yunus Akgün.

In addition to Osimhen, other notable absentees include Mario Lemina and Wilfried Singo, who are also sidelined due to injuries. Furthermore, it has been reported that Osimhen and Trabzonspor forward Paul Onuachu may miss Nigeria’s opening 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau later this month due to their respective injuries.
