UEFA Suspends Benfica's Prestianni Over Racism Allegation

UEFA has imposed a provisional suspension on Benfica player Gianluca Prestianni after allegations of racial abuse directed at Real Madrid winger Vinicius during the first leg of their Champions League Round of 16 playoff tie last week. The incident reportedly occurred during the match, leading Vinicius to allege that Prestianni used a racial slur against him.

As a result of these allegations, Prestianni will not participate in the return leg of the Champions League playoff against Real Madrid next week. The UEFA Ethics and Disciplinary Commission is currently conducting an investigation regarding the claims of racism.

This disciplinary action falls under Article 14, which addresses discriminatory behavior. In the first leg of the playoff, Real Madrid secured a 1-0 victory, with Vinicius scoring the only goal of the match.
