UK Implements Security Measures for Tinubu's Visit

The United Kingdom has implemented road closures and no-fly zones in preparation for Nigerian President Bola Tinubu's state visit, scheduled for March 18, 2024. Tinubu will be accompanied by his wife, Oluremi Tinubu, and will meet with King Charles III.

The Thames Valley Police, in collaboration with the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead and the Royal Household, announced that airspace restrictions will be in place around Windsor Castle from 7 AM to 11:59 PM on the day of the visit. Chief Superintendent Adrian Hall emphasized that these measures are part of a broader security operation, which includes deploying armed police units and neighborhood policing resources.

The police will also utilize an extensive closed-circuit television network and implement hostile vehicle mitigation barriers. Members of the public are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.

Road closures and potential temporary disruptions are expected to begin on March 17, 2024, as part of the security preparations.
