UK and Canada Visa Fees Set to Rise for Nigerians in 2026

The UK and Canada are planning significant increases in visa fees that will affect Nigerians looking to visit, study, work, or settle in either country. The UK will revise its visa fees effective April 8, 2026, while Canada will update its permanent residency and citizenship charges on April 30, 2026.

The fee adjustments in Canada will cover seven categories, with increases ranging from CAD 575 to CAD 1,895, depending on the application type. For instance, the provincial nominee program fee will rise from CAD 950 to CAD 990, while the business class fee will increase from CAD 1,810 to CAD 1,895.

In the UK, the indefinite leave to remain application will cost £3,226 (approximately ₦5,878,544), and various visitor and student visa fees will also see increases. The changes reflect the differing costs across categories, with the Canadian citizenship fee rising from CAD 119.75 to CAD 123 as of March 31, 2026.
