UK Defence Chief Engages Nigerian Military in Maiduguri

On Tuesday, Lieutenant General Sir Charlie Collins, the UK Deputy Chief of Defence Staff, arrived in Maiduguri, Borno State, for high-level engagements with Nigerian military officials. The visit aimed to deepen defense cooperation between the UK and Nigeria, particularly as Nigeria continues to tackle terrorism, insurgency, and banditry affecting various regions, especially the northeast.

During his visit, Collins met with Nigerian Army officers to observe ongoing joint defense efforts and to strengthen military collaboration in support of Nigeria's security operations. The British military confirmed that the visit would focus on enhancing military partnerships, intelligence sharing, and counter-terrorism support.

The visit included formal ceremonies, such as a guard of honor, and underscored the UK's role as a major defense partner for Nigeria in the fight against Boko Haram and other security challenges in the region.
