UK Government Launches Citizenship Pathway for Stateless Individuals

The UK government has announced a new pathway for stateless individuals, who are not recognized as citizens of any country, to register as British citizens. This process is contingent upon the individual's birth circumstances.

Adults aged 18 and over are required to pay a total fee of £1,670, which includes a £1,540 application fee and a £130 citizenship ceremony fee. If a minor turns 18 during their application, they must pay the additional £130 ceremony fee.

The government warns that incorrect fee submissions will lead to outright rejection of the application. However, there is a provision for a fee waiver for applicants under 18 who cannot afford the costs, allowing eligible minors to apply for this waiver prior to submitting their citizenship application.

Stateless individuals are also informed that they can explore other avenues for British citizenship or different nationalities based on their specific situations.
