University of Leicester Launches Nigerian Alumni Chapter

The University of Leicester officially launched its Nigerian alumni chapter in Abuja on January 31, 2023, aiming to mobilize support for Nigeria's development agenda. Phil Dalbi, the Director of Future Students Office, highlighted the significant contributions of Nigerian alumni to the university's legacy and their potential to drive change in Nigeria.

The event featured testimonies from prominent alumni, including Mathew Adepoju, Director General of the National Space Research and Development Agency, and Abdulhakeem Oyebod from the Naval Headquarters, who discussed how their education at Leicester provided a strong foundation for their careers. Zainab Mai Borno emphasized the role of alumni in sustaining the university's global reputation and the importance of demonstrating hard work and dedication in their communities.

The launch is part of a broader initiative to engage alumni in national development, with an ambitious target to reach 100 million in the second century of the university's existence.
