UK Alumni Awards Celebrate Nigerian Achievements in Lagos

The UK Alumni Awards, held on February 28 at the Continental Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos, celebrated the contributions of Nigerian alumni from UK institutions across various sectors. Donna McGowan, the British Council Country Director, highlighted the awards' significance in showcasing the global impact of UK education.

Four winners were recognized: Kola Alapinni received the Social Action Award for his legal advocacy in high-profile blasphemy cases in Nigeria; Yemisi Sophi Odusanya, known as Sisi Yemmi, was honored for her contributions to digital storytelling through her YouTube platform, Sisiyemmietv; Dimeji Sofowora won the Business Innovation category for advancing healthcare technology with Helium Health; and Prof. Abdulazeez Ahm received the Science Sustainability Award for establishing Nigeria's first audiometrician training program.

The awards marked the twelfth year of recognizing the achievements of UK alumni worldwide.
