Sanwo-Olu and Umahi Dismiss Coastal Highway Flood Claims

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Minister of Works David Umahi addressed claims that the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway is responsible for flooding in Lagos. They described these allegations as false and driven by misinformation on social media.

During a visit, Sanwo-Olu commended President Bola Tinubu's initiatives to transform infrastructure, which he believes will boost Nigeria's economy and improve citizens' quality of life. He explained that Lagos, due to its coastal geography, will always experience some flooding during heavy rainfall, and emphasized that the flooding is exacerbated by blocked drainage channels.

Sanwo-Olu noted that the state has begun major clean-up efforts and is enforcing environmental regulations to protect drainage infrastructure. Umahi supported this by stating that the federal government is collaborating with Lagos State to construct additional drainage channels.

They both highlighted the need for accurate information regarding the flooding situation and the importance of ongoing infrastructure projects.
