Umahi Urges Obi to Support Tinubu Over 2027 Ambition

David Umahi, the former governor of Ebonyi State and current Minister of Works, has called on Peter Obi, the Labour Party's presidential candidate, to reconsider his 2027 presidential ambitions and instead support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. During a visit to Abia State, Umahi emphasized the importance of political leaders in the Southeast abandoning divisive plans for the 2027 elections to foster unity and support the current administration.

He argued that Obi's presidential bid could exacerbate political divisions in the region. Umahi highlighted that the Tinubu administration has made significant strides in addressing marginalization in the Southeast, citing major infrastructure investments and ongoing projects worth trillions of naira.

He expressed confidence that Tinubu would receive overwhelming support from the Southeast in future elections and warned that failing to align with the current administration could jeopardize ongoing projects. Umahi concluded by stressing the need for strategic political choices that prioritize the long-term interests of the Southeast.
