IOM Aids 17.8 Million People with Humanitarian Support

In 2025, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) delivered humanitarian assistance to 17.8 million individuals across 170 countries and territories, as reported in the IOM Annual Report 2025 released on Wednesday. Established in 1951, the IOM aids refugees and displaced persons, supports governments in creating safe migration policies, and promotes orderly migration globally.

The agency focused its operations in crisis-affected regions such as Gaza, Haiti, Myanmar, Ukraine, and the Sahel, providing shelter assistance to 7.3 million people. Additionally, the IOM conducted 4.2 million primary healthcare consultations and offered water, sanitation, and hygiene services to 5.1 million individuals.

The report also indicated that the IOM's data and analysis informed 21 humanitarian response plans, allowing governments and aid organizations to better target their support. Ugochi Daniels, IOM Deputy Director General for Operations, emphasized the necessity for stronger coordination and evidence-based interventions to ensure aid reaches the most vulnerable populations amid declining global humanitarian funding.
