UNESCO and UNN Train 500 Youths in Ethical AI in Enugu State

In a partnership between UNESCO, the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), and Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area in Enugu State, over 500 youths have been successfully trained in Ethical Artificial Intelligence. The program, which attracted participants from Enugu North Senatorial District and neighboring communities in Benue and Kogi states, also included vocational skill training for an additional 250 youths. The training covered the payment of WAEC and JAMB fees for students, encouraging educational pursuits, particularly for indigent students. The initiative, led by Chairman Ugo Ferdinand Ukwuez, aims to equip Igbo-Eze South youths to compete globally in emerging technologies.

The program, conducted with technical support from UNESCO and manpower from UNN, provided critical training in the field of Ethical Artificial Intelligence. The initiative, certified by UNESCO, holds significant value beyond Igbo-Eze South, attracting participants from 17 local government areas within Enugu State and 30 others from outside the state, including Kogi and Benue. Additionally, the Mario Institute, owned by the Catholic Diocese of Nsukka, has graduated 250 students with vocational skills by December 2025, with 50 already securing opportunities outside Enugu North Senatorial District.
