University of Abuja Appoints Prof Ndagi as DVC Administration

The University of Abuja has officially appointed Prof Muhammad Umaru Ndagi as the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Administration. This announcement was made in a statement by the acting director of information, Habib Yakoob, following the university's governing council's 82nd extraordinary meeting held on February 13.

Prof Ndagi is recognized as a distinguished scholar and an Arab linguist, with a 45-year career in academia, including previous roles as Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Deputy Dean of the School of Postgraduate Studies. Beyond his academic contributions, he is a long-time columnist for Daily Trust newspaper and a member of its editorial board.

His appointment was ratified alongside that of Prof Rosemari Udeozor, who will serve as Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academics. Prof Ndagi holds degrees from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and the International Institute of Arabic Language in Khartoum, and he is a fellow of Arab Studies in Nigeria.

He has pledged to support Vice Chancellor Prof Hakeem Fawehinmi in advancing the university's strategic direction.
